The Advance Colorado Broadband Grant Program funds broadband projects that improve or expand infrastructure or make access to high-speed internet affordable and easy to use for all Coloradans. Colorado is using pandemic recovery funding to make significant, long-term improvements to the state's broadband infrastructure through the Capital Projects Fund (CPF). On Jan. 3, 2024, Governor Polis announced the investment of $113 million from CPF to connect nearly 19,000 homes and businesses across Colorado. Read the full press release.
The CBO recently ran the Location Modification Program, which allowed existing CPF awardees to apply for additional funding to serve additional unserved locations near their initial award areas. The Challenge Window is open from May 31 to June 14, 2024. See the Challenge section below for more information.
Awarded Projects
The Advance-CPF application opened in June and closed in September 2023. We received 112 applications requesting more than $642 million across 47 counties. The review process and proposed project selection took into consideration several factors including the percentage of eligible unserved locations, cost efficiency and justification for high-cost areas, available and affordable services, community engagement by the applicant, and Executive Order 2022-023.
