The State of Colorado’s broadband efforts are driven by collaboration, leveraging funding opportunities and partnerships with local, state, and federal governments, communities, private industry and other organizations to ensure Colorado has robust and scalable broadband infrastructure.
About the Colorado Broadband Office
The Colorado Broadband Office (CBO) leads the statewide effort to expand broadband coverage and quality for all Coloradans and coordinates all broadband efforts for Colorado.
Boards
Broadband Deployment Board & Fund
The Broadband Deployment Board (BDB) provides grants through the Broadband Fund to deploy broadband service in unserved areas of the state.
Broadband Advisory Board
The Broadband Advisory Board (BAB) focused on collaboration and coordination of broadband efforts for Colorado. The BAB was dissolved with Governor Polis' June 2, 2022 signing of EO D 2022 023.
Partner Agencies
Department of Local Affairs
The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) supports broadband planning and middle mile infrastructure efforts of local governments through a grant program funded by the Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Fund (EIAF).
Colorado Department of Transportation
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) deploys fiber through their capital projects along state highways and works with providers to expand broadband through their right of way public private partnership process.
Office of Economic Development & International Trade
The Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) relies on broadband services to support rural economic development efforts and promotes broadband infrastructure investment through enterprise zone and opportunity zone tax incentives.
Colorado Department of Education
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) supports connectivity for families, educators, school districts and communities.
Office of eHealth Innovation
The Office of eHealth Innovation (OeHI) works with healthcare providers to understand how broadband affects their patients and the reliance of telehealth innovation on broadband.
Office of the Future of Work
The Office of the Future of Work (OFOW) is the lead office for Digital Literacy and Inclusion coordination, research, and policy development and leads the Broadband Advisory Board Subcommittee on Digital Literacy and Inclusion (SDLI).
