Recent Updates

  • 10/25/2021: USDA released a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the third round of ReConnect Program funding. Applications window will be open from November 24, 2021, to February 22, 2022. The FOA defines sufficient access to broadband as “any rural area in which households have fixed, terrestrial broadband service defined as 100 megabits per second (Mbps) downstream and 20 Mbps upstream.”
     
  • 10/25/2021: FCC announced it received nearly $1.3 billion in funding requests in the second application filing window of the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF). 
     
  • 10/19/2021: Help Colorado determine the process for utilizing the $170 million allocated to Colorado from the U.S. Treasury's Capital Projects Fund (CPF). Take our survey by November 15, 2021 to share your input!

The Broadband Fund

The Broadband Deployment Board, established by the Colorado General Assembly in 2014, provides grants through the Broadband Fund to deploy broadband service in unserved areas of the state.

DOLA Broadband Program

DOLA supports the efforts of local governments to improve Broadband service to their constituents to achieve enhanced community and economic development.

Connecting Colorado Students Grant Program

The Connecting Colorado Students Grant Program provided funds to increase access to broadband services for students, educators, and other staff who lack stable, reliable internet access for remote learning.

Connected Care Pilot Program

The Connected Care Pilot Program provides up to $100 million of support from the Universal Service Fund (USF) to help defray eligible health care providers’ costs of providing connected care services and help assess how USF funds might be used to support connected care services.

COVID-19 Telehealth Program

The COVID-19 Telehealth Program supports “efforts of health care providers to address coronavirus by providing telecommunications services, information services, and devices necessary to enable the provision of telehealth services” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emergency Connectivity Fund Program

The Emergency Connectivity Fund Program provides funding to help schools and libraries keep students, staff, and patrons connected during the COVID-19 health emergency.

Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBBP)

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program provides support for broadband services and certain devices to help low-income households stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Important Dates: As of May 12, 2021, eligible households are able to enroll to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider.

Lifeline

The Lifeline program provides a discount on phone and broadband service for qualifying low-income households.

Rural Digital Opportunity Fund

A $20.4 billion fund, through a two-phase reverse auction mechanism, to finance up to gigabit speed broadband networks in unserved rural areas.

Rural Health Care (RHC) Program

The RHC Program provides funding to eligible public or non-profit health care providers for broadband and telecommunications services necessary for the provision of health care.

Broadband Infrastructure Program

The Broadband Infrastructure Program is a $288 million broadband deployment program directed to partnerships between a state, or one or more political subdivisions of a state, and providers of fixed broadband service to support broadband infrastructure deployment to areas lacking broadband, especially rural areas.

Connecting Minority Communities (CMC) Program

The Connecting Minority Communities (CMC) Pilot Program provides grants to eligible HBCUs, TCUs and MSIs in anchor communities for the purchase of broadband Internet access service or any eligible equipment, or to hire and train information technology personnel.

Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program

The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program will provide grants to expand access to and adoption of (a) broadband service on Tribal land; or (b) remote learning, telework, or telehealth resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community Connect Grant Program

The Community Connect program helps fund broadband deployment in rural communities where it is not yet economically viable for private-sector providers to deliver service.

Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Grant Program

The Distance Learning and Telemedicine program helps rural communities use the unique capabilities of telecommunications to connect to each other and to the world, overcoming the effects of remoteness and low population density.

Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund (CCPF)

The Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund (CCPF) will address many challenges laid bare by the pandemic, especially in rural America and low- and moderate-income communities, helping to ensure that all communities have access to the high-quality, modern infrastructure needed to thrive, including internet access.

Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds

The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provide a substantial infusion of resources to help turn the tide on the pandemic, address its economic fallout, and lay the foundation for a strong and equitable recovery.
