The day has finally come! After much anticipation, President Biden and Vice President Harris announced today the state allocations for the Broadband, Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) funds. Colorado is set to receive $826,522,650.
As part of the Biden administration's "Internet for All" program, the money is earmarked to ensure the delivery of affordable, reliable, high-speed internet.
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) determined each state's allocation based on maps from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The BEAD money will help Colorado reach Governor Polis' goal of 99% of households connected to high-speed broadband by 2027.
The CBO will start taking applications for the BEAD funding in 2024 through the Advance Colorado Broadband grant program.
