The CBO has announced a new initiative to strengthen the state’s middle-mile infrastructure, the critical backbone connecting local communities to the global internet. The strategy aims to improve daily cellular and fiber connectivity while supporting advanced industries like quantum computing.
Set for completion by the end of 2026, the strategy focuses on three pillars: a comprehensive gap assessment, a feasibility study for addressing connectivity challenges, and the creation of a policy and funding implementation framework.
The effort is guided by a steering committee of state, tribal, and regional partners, including CDOT and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
