Colorado Broadband Map

We had a highly productive year in 2023. We announced Capital Projects Fund (CPF) awards, received an allocation of $826.5 million from the Broadband, Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program and passed significant legislation that removes barriers to investing federal dollars, among many more things. These accomplishments were made possible by partnerships with broadband stakeholders across the state, and are highlighted in our Colorado Broadband Office (CBO) 2023 Report. There is a lot of progress to celebrate!

The 2024 Colorado Broadband Data Collection is now open. The CBO requests that internet service providers (ISPs) in Colorado provide confirmation of their Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Broadband Data Collection (BDC) filing submissions depicting broadband service availability as of December 31, 2023, in addition to other submission details for 2024 Colorado Broadband Data Collection.

Updated Availability Data

The CBO updated the availability data in the Colorado Broadband Map and Grant Discovery Portal on Jan. 26. The availability data is based on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Broadband Data Collection (BDC) current as of June 30, 2023, released by FCC Nov. 14, 2023.

The Advance-BEAD Challenge window closes at 11:59 p.m. MT on Friday, Feb. 9. Registered users must submit challenges by the deadline.

The deadline for ISPs, nonprofits, and local or Tribal governments to register for access to the Challenge Portal is this Wednesday, Feb. 7. If the CBO cannot verify your CostQuest License at that time, we will be unable to create an account in time for you to participate in the process.

Remember, this is the last chance we have to ensure the accuracy of our broadband map before BEAD is underway.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today released version 3.0 of the National Broadband Map. According to a blog post by FCC Chairwoman Rosenworcel, the number of unserved homes and businesses is decreasing. The most recent map shows approximately 7.2 million locations without access to high-speed internet service. Version 2.0 of the map, released in May, showed 8.3 million locations.

On Mar. 29, the CBO Data Team hosted the third webinar in our Broadband Data & Mapping Webinar series, focused on How to Use Our New Maps.

In February, the CBO launched the brand new Broadband Mapping Hub (Hub), an easy-to-use, complete resource to assist in broadband planning, finding partnerships and applying for broadband funding through the state. In this webinar we walked through the features and functionality of the Hub and the new maps and dashboards.

We are very excited to launch the Colorado Broadband Office Mapping Hub (Hub)! The Hub is now available at broadbandhub.colorado.gov and is an easy-to-use resource for the public, internet service providers (ISPs), schools, communities and businesses around Colorado for their broadband education and planning purposes.

The 2023 Colorado Broadband Data Collection opens tomorrow, Feb. 14 and runs through March 10, 2023.
