In 2023, the Technical Assistance Program awarded $315,128 in funding to support seven local governments that lacked the staff or resources to apply for broadband grants. The TA Program is closed at this time.
What is the Technical Assistance Program?
Many unserved and underserved communities in our state are eligible for federal funding but may not have the resources necessary to prepare, plan, apply for, and administer a federal grant. To create a more equitable opportunity that allows all Colorado communities to participate in upcoming federal grant programs, we have created a Technical Assistance Program. Through the program, eligible entities qualify for the support and services they will need to pursue these once-in-a-generation grant opportunities.
Who Is Eligible?
Eligible entities are political subdivisions within the State of Colorado including:
- Municipalities
- Counties
- School Districts
- Special Districts
- Councils of Government
- Economic Development Districts
CBO will review applications to the program from eligible entities and select awardees based on financial need. The State of Colorado will contract with a vendor and match a vendor with an awardee to provide technical assistance services. Please note: no direct funding will be provided directly to awardees.
What Services Can I Apply For?
The CBO has set aside funding designated to provide communities in need of a variety of grant support services to communities. Services include;
- Developing a broadband strategic plan
- Broadband feasibility study
- Broadband preliminary network design
- Project cost estimation
- Grant preparation
- Mapping capacity and data collection services
